How do you feel about meritorious increases to teacher pay versus traditional across-the-board pay raises? Please comment on this most important topic.
Teacher pay and possible bonuses are complex issues. It is easy to say "pay them more" or "award bonuses for class achievement" to get higher quality professionals.
What you will get are more money motivated people. Whether they are in the same set as better teachers is arguable and has not been proven.
What has been proven is, if the teacher can get the parents involved enough to motivate their children then the children will learn more.

Hi Joe
I'll be brief and point you to a very eloquent argument on the issue which pretty much covers my own sentiment.
